Hong Jiao

Dr. Hong Jiao is the Associate Professor of measurement, statistics, and evaluation in the of Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology at the University of Maryland, College Park. She also worked as the Director of the Maryland Center for Assessment Studies, Chairman of the Maryland Examinations Technical Advisory Board and a member of the PARCC consortium Research and Psychology Committee. She was awarded the Bradley Hanson Education Measurement Contribution Award by the National Education Measurement Board in 2014. Dr Jiao’s main research areas are education and psychometrics, multi-level item response theory, mixed item response theory, integration of topic data and answer process data analysis methods and model establishment, and computer classification test research. Her study involved educational measurement, psychometrics, and qualification exams.

Chanjin Zheng

Dr. ChanjinZheng is an Associate Researcher in the Department of Educational Psychology. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include education and psychometrics. Specific research topics include modeling of modern education and psychometric techniques, parameter estimation, and applications in computerized adaptive tests.

Abstract

This presentation introduces different types of technology-enhanced innovative assessment including game-based and simulation-based assessment. It further highlights the opportunities and challenges associated with such data-rich innovation in terms of scoring and modeling. Several psychometric models and approaches are presented.
